With
considerable panache, Teodoro Nieto Anton laves his canvases with
warmth inspired by the golden hot sunlight that drenches his native
Spain. Unapologetically arbitrary about perspective, Anton dashes
off the effects of structural images like a stage scenery painter.
His work is filled with a vitality that conveys the particular strength
of painted plaster surfaces that seem to absorb sunlight and then
generate a warmth of their own. ÉHis wonderfully romantic titles
ascribe curious, highly personal expressions to the paintings that
contribute little to interpretive understaning or site identification,
but they do roll trippingly on the tongue.
