Alabama
sculptor, Frank Fleming, was born in Bear Creek, Alabama in 1940
and now resides in Birmingham. Frank uses fine textured porcelain
to create his innovative sculptures. Sometimes his works are glazed
or colored but most often you will see his pieces presented in their
natural bisque finish. He also does wonderful works in bronze.
Frank hand builds each work using no scale models or studies that
night hamper his working spontaneity. His pieces are created as
he works.
Frank works out of his studio in his home where he is surrounded
by beautiful gardens that he has designed. Flowers, vegetables,
flowering trees, wild ferns, ground covers and paths create a serenity
that is home for his sculptures scattered through the garden.
His work is recognized nationally and internationally. It resides
in private, corporate, municipal and museum collections around the
world. Fleming is thrilled that a piece of his was chosen to be
a part of the permanent collection of the National Museum of Art
at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
Galleries
throughout the United States in such cities as Atlanta, New Orleans,
Santa Fe, Chicago, Louisville, Washington and New York exhibit his
work.
