| Born in Luzy,France
in 1946,the Artist graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of
Lyon in 1967, worked in the Far-East as an oil prospector, and travelled through
the Americas in a VW camper as a photographer, before moving to the US in 1974.
His early shows were of photography, and after years as an interior and furniture
designer, he started painting in 1981. Entirely self-taught, he was by 1984 a
full time painter of very realistic still-lives inspired by 16th century masters.
The last and most elaborate of those was a 6ftx10ft triptych : the Baptism of
Clovis, that took 6 months to complete .
Drawing fresh inspiration
from his collection of Guatemalan religious sculpture and the study
of 2000 year old Greek and Egyptian art, he started sculpting in
1998 . There are now three different sculptural projects in progress
, one called Dummies with Souls, one Beeswax Studies,
and the last Ancient Fragments.
After a successful summer
show at Le Mieux Galleries in New-Orleans and a fall show at Monty-Stabler
Galleries in Birmingham,Alabama , the Artist is now preparing a
summer 2003 show at Le Mieux Galleries in New-Orleans.
