Darren
has lived in Birmingham since his birth in 1973. He has been making
his art in various mediums since childhood. During his teens he
worked for his familys steel business. Upon graduating from John
Carroll High School in 1991, Darren studied art at the University
of Alabama in Birmingham. It was there, in 1992, that he started
using the family steel business as a medium for his works.
Steel
is the basis for all of Darrens art. Other types of materials used
are stainless steel, iron, aluminum, brass and copper. These are
eventually transformed by welding and polishing. Most of Darrens
work is in private collections throughout the country, but can be
seen exclusively in Alabama at Monty Stabler Galleries.
