For the most part, I work in a very spontaneous manner; rarely mapping out my compositions ahead of time. Although I do draw extensively in sketch book
ideas. Through the years, certain images and forms appear over and over again in these sketch books and in my actual work. These forms, which are a series of "personal symbols", have become the focus of my recent drawings. Like much of my work, these drawings are based on my strong interest in medieval and gothic architecture. Working in such a large scale allowed me to push the monumental feel of the forms, emphasizing the power and beauty in the architecture that is my original inspiration.
