Hearne
Pardee makes paintings, drawings and collages from landscape. His
subjects range geographically from Maine to the American West. His
approach combines Impressionism and European modernism with the
tradition of landscape painting in America. Working directly outdoors,
he documents the natural landscape and its transformation by development.
His studies of agricultural, industrial and suburban sites lend
the subjects personal resonance through their emphasis on space
and color.
Hearne Pardee was educated at Yale University, the New York Studio
School, and Columbia University. He exhibits regularly in New York
City at the Bowery Gallery. He also contributes reviews to Artnews
and other art publications. He is currently Professor of Art at
the University of California, Davis.
